What do you do when you realize your friends aren’t the women who fit the standard of what a traditional woman should aspire to be? My sister and I recently asked ourselves this very question.  We were then forced to stop and question ourselves as to why we don’t have “traditional female friends”. Every decision we make counts and as we’ve gotten older we realize we’ve become more selective with the types of women we choose to surround ourselves with,  in order to become the women we want to be. 41580297-b7d2-4903-95b0-99b80d75698a

The people we call our friends weigh more on who we become than we may think.

Picking our squad is just as important as deciding who we’ll date. It’s important to have people who challenge your mind, rather than just being concerned with what lip color you’re wearing. Aim to have girlfriends who send motivational content, recommended books, new job openings or flights deals rather than only sending party flyer invitations or shady screenshots. We want to be surrounded by friends that inspire, support and encourage us to live a more active lifestyle or to attend networking events/workshops rather than always running to happy hour or going out to eat. Consequently, we now realize how important it is pay attention to friends who encourage negative or nonproductive behavior. 97f4ab9b-5b2f-4817-8f0b-d02e0d04d1a7

Don’t get us wrong , we enjoy doing those other things occasionally but balance is key especially in your 20’s.

As we continue to grow we’ve noticed the power of having emotionally aware, powerful, supportive, confident, God fearing women around us. My sister and I have also realized the importance of being selective with the women who make up our #GirlSquad. We believe a good #GirlSquad should consist of women who truly invest into you wholeheartedly just as much as you invest into them.  A #GirlSquad full of true friendship, without fear of jealousy, ulterior motives or hate, just pure love and good vibes. Ultimately, you have the right to selectively choose your friends and to end bad friendships and/or toxic relationships. You shouldn’t feel tied down to hold on to friendships from high school or college…simply hanging on to the number of years.

From our past experiences we have learned to surround ourselves with WOMEN who are bosses in their own right. Women who don’t mind  helping or sharing the knowledge they have attained with the fear of being replaced by someone else.

Women who shine bright without feeling the need to dim someone else’s light.. Women who don’t blatantly copy but try to create through inspiration. Women who are not afraid to dream big and take up as much space as they deem necessary. Women who understand the sacrifices it takes to be a female entrepreneur or leader in their chosen field.   169712e2-6b8e-49ec-a840-6754e9f77f7b So our question to you is, What  are your #SquadGoals? Think to yourself, who are the women in my life who inspire me to be great? (Both young and old) Who are the women who motivate me to not give up on myself and my dreams? Who are the women who can relate to choosing the road less traveled? 13db7a4d-20c2-4ecc-9280-17f8d17214c4 As we continue to grow we,  pray to one day to have a girl squad of people from all walks of life that add value to  our my lives as we add value to theirs, in all ways. dc1115cf-c05b-4dfb-9a3b-4e6531a94429 We truly admire  women who seem to have  the ultimate squad goals! Women who seem to have a solid foundation within their friendships; friendships based on more than what they project online. Friendships that encourage one another to be entrepreneurs, professionals,  creatives and girl bosses in their own right. Women who are  united together as sisters of life, ultimately working to achieve their goals as they uplift themselves and other WOMEN. jackets 2
